Born in 1955 in Queensland, Australia, Greg Norman is a professional golf player, experienced businessman, and philanthropist. Norman has won over 90 tournaments worldwide, including 20 PGA tournaments and 2 British Opens.
He was nicknamed “The Great White Shark” after his blonde hair, size, aggressive golf playing style and his birthplace native coastal animal.Widely recognized as one of the most accomplished golfers of his generation, Norman began walking the course as a caddy for his mom.
His pro career started later in 1976. A year later, in 1977, he joined the European Tour where he earned his first victory at the Martini International at the Blairgowrie Club in Scotland. In 1980, he won the French Open by 10 shots. Later that year, Norman would also win the Scandinavian Enterprise Open in Sweden, the Suntory World Match Play Championship in England and the Australian Open. In 1986, he won 11 tournaments including 4 in Australia and 2 PGA tour events.
Norman spent 331 weeks as the world’s #1 Golfer in the Official World Golf Rankings and was finally inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001.
As a golf professional, Norman has also designed many golf courses. In 1987, Norman established Greg Norman Golf Course design. His company established over 70 golf courses over 6 different continents!
